Recently we were contacted by a real estate agent in California. He was helping working with a client to find housing here in Arizona. This client, Sylvia, is a lovely lady in her 80’s, never married, no children, yet she had decided to sell her condo in Oceanside, CA to start a new life here in the Valley! She had never been here and didn’t even know anyone here! Without family or friends here, she really needed some extra help to make this move possible. During this process of helping Sylvia find a place to call home, we came into contact with a group of people, all of us working together to help Ms. Sylvia. Her Agent, Todd Bell , really went out of his way, arranging many things on her behalf, including obtaining and orchestrating moving company details. Her Financial Advisor, Andrea , worked with me to make sure Sylvia could find a comfortable place to live within a predetermined budget. Andrea clearly had Sylvia’s best interests at heart. The moving company, One Stop Moving & Storage , stayed in contact with myself and Todd, keeping us informed on their arrival time. The movers even went out of their way, helping Sylvia dispose of boxes and arranging her furniture for her! The Apartment Manager at Fireside East, Edd , was so accommodating and friendly! I am so grateful that we met and have found a friend in him. We all worked together and went above and beyond to help Sylvia. She keeps thanking me, but really, we should be thanking her! W’re fortunate to have been given this opportunity and have developed friendships that, had it not been for Sylvia, would never have happened. I hope this little story inspires you to be available to strangers in need. To be open to connecting with people! To lend a helping hand. You may find yourself with amazing new friends and a warm fuzzy feeling in your heart!
